Mary Anne Barkhouse art installation
Here is the progress on the public art installation at Toogood Pond in Markham, by artist Mary Anne Barkhouse. These pre-cut granite blocks were set in place with a book truck on a concrete foundation slab. The next steps involve concrete infill and paving for the surrounding surface, then installation of bronze statues and restoration.

Gambrel Journey Art Installation
The new public art installation by kip jones at Markham Museum is complete, and Hawkins Contracting was happy to be part of the construction and installation team. Referencing the design of a Gambrel barn, the steel and aluminum structure represents the history and future of Markham.

Late night bridge installation
The pedestrian bridge at Lynde Shores Conservation Area has successfully been installed. The bridge had a final touchdown on the abutments at approximately 11:00pm, making it our first nighttime bridge installation. Thank you to everyone for staying alert and working safely.

New Project Awarded!
Markham Multi-Use Pathway Phase 2. We are proud to be awarded the next phase of a multi-use pathway construction in Markham, through the Rouge River valleys from Milne Conservation south-east to Box Grove. This project will involve limestone and asphalt pathway construction, installation of 4 pedestrian bridges, 6 entry nodes, steel-frame boardwalks, helical piers, concrete work, rock works, solar lighting, fencing, site furnishings, planting and seeding. Look for some site photos when work gets started this fall!

New Project Awarded!
We are excited to be awarded the construction of Carruther's Trail in Ajax. This new trail will follow Carruther's Creek, from Tauton Rd. south to Rossland Rd, and will involve the construction of 575m of asphalt trail, pedestrian bridge, steel frame boardwalk with cantilevered awning, helical piles, trailhead connections, seating/picnic areas and viewing stations, shade structure, coloured stamped asphalt, concrete shore-wall and paving, rock work, trail markers and site furniture, and planting. We looking forward to working with Ajax and together successfully completing this important piece of recreational infrastructure!
